Fully-fit Darren ready to rock with PJ City

PETALING JAYA: Striker Darren Lok (pic) is ready to get the goals for Petaling Jaya City in the Malaysia Cup now that his injury woe is over.

The 30-year-old suffered a toe fracture against Kedah in the Super League in March.

Even with the injury, he went on to play against Pahang four days later but could only feature for 25 minutes.

He returned to training in August and everything has fallen nicely into place for him since then.

In seven starts, he has scored three goals for the club in the Super League.

The fully-fit Darren is hoping to run riot against Sabah in their Group D match today at the Petaling Jaya Stadium.

“This injury was a hard one mentally, so I appreciate the opportunity to play again with the team,” said Darren.

“I’m feeling good. I had been working hard to improve my fitness and sharpness.

“The mood in the camp is positive as it has been all year.

“Even when the results did not go our way, we had stuck together.”

He said they could expect a stronger showing by Sabah under their new coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee.

“He will get them well organised, so we cannot take this game lightly. They have the quality, but we are good as a unit.”

On their chances in the Cup, he said: “We want to progress to the knockout stage. I think finishing seventh in the Super League has surprised many and shown what a team full of locals can do.”
