PETALING JAYA: Petaling Jaya City FC (PJC), previously known as Mifa, have set an ambitious target for the upcoming Super League.
The team, sponsored by QI Group, hope to finish in the top five bracket.
“We have taken over and Mifa will not be playing a role moving forward from here,” said QI Group executive chairman Datuk Seri Vijay Eswaran at a leading hotel today.
“Mifa will still exist as a feeder to source for players with talent and also oversee development. We will continue to work with them.”
Mifa general secretary KV Anba said: “We have gone through the processes and we have received a letter confirming PJC’s participation in the Super League.
“We have followed all procedures including the club licensing aspect. It was completed in accordance with the FA of Malaysia’s (FAM) regulations.
“As for Mifa, the club will be a feeder to PJC and will focus on development. PJC have a bigger budget to achieve better results. They will be our partner,” said Anba.
Mifa who only finished third in the Premier League last season was given a Super League spot following the withdrawal of runners-up Felcra due to financial issues.
PJC, under coach K. Devan, have signed two foreigners in South Korean midfielder Bae Beon Geun and Brazilian defender Elizue Batista.
Former international S. Subramaniam will be the captain.
